Kedarkhatha Trek

Kedarkantha Trek is widely regarded as one of India’s finest winter treks, offering a classic Himalayan experience accessible to beginners. Reaching an altitude of 12,500 feet, the trek is famous for its 360-degree panoramic views of major peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. 

Trek Details & Logistics
  • Difficulty: Rated as Easy-Moderate. While the terrain is manageable for first-timers, the final “summit push” is a steep climb that requires good fitness.
  • Duration: Typically 5 to 6 days, covering a total distance of approximately 20–23 km.
  • Best Time to Visit:
    • Winter (Dec–Feb): The peak season for snow lovers. Expect frozen lakes and knee-deep snow.
    • Spring (March–April): A mix of receding snow and blooming Rhododendrons.
    • Autumn (Oct–Nov): Best for photography with crystal clear skies and sharp mountain views.
  • Starting Point: The base camp is Sankri village, located roughly 200 km from Dehradun.

How to Reach
  • From Dehradun: Shared taxis and private cabs are available near the Dehradun Railway Station.
  • Public Bus: Direct government buses to Sankri leave early in the morning (around 5:30 AM) from the Dehradun railway station area.
